White clams (Meretrix lyrata) grow naturally and develop well on the sand at the southern and northern beach of Viet Nam, belongs to eastern sea, Pacific Ocean. Southern raw materials concentrate Can Gio – Ho Chi Minh City, Go Cong – Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Trà Vinh with average yield 30.000 – 45.000 ton/year. Northern raw materials concentrate along the beach belong to Thanh Hoa, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh with average yield 50.000 – 60.000 ton/year.
In Viet Nam, white clams (Meretrix lyrata) are called Bentre Clam because they have original and multiply well at the beach belongs to Bentre. The fishermen catch baby clams from here to provide some other locals in country for nourishment. Therefore, Bentre Clam was certificated MSC by Marine Stewardship Council in 2009.
